The Department of Music is proud to announce that Doc Severinsen, famed trumpeter and former bandleader with “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson,” will perform in concert with the Georgia Southern University Jazz Ensemble on Wednesday, January 25 at 7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center. Doc and the Jazz Ensemble will be performing several big band charts originally arranged for the "Tonight Show" Band. The concert will also feature guest vocalist, Vanessa Thomas. In addition to the concert, Doc will present a master class at 3:00 pm on Sunday, January 22 in the Carol A. Carter Recital Hall in the Foy Building.  Doc will speak on a variety of topics, from professional trumpet playing to his illustrious 30-year career with "The Tonight Show." The master class is free and open to the public.
