Southern Songbirds: An Evening with Jill Knight & Caroline Aiken

  • Tybee Post Theater 10 Van Horne Avenue Tybee Island, GA, 31328 United States (map)

This is going to be one special night, folks. Two extraordinarily talented songwriters and performers, one from Los Angeles, one from Athens, but both with deep roots in the South, together on our stage.

Savannah native Jill Knight's soulful sound is unmistakable. Her music delivers a southern texture blending Americana, blues and weaving in a little R & B that will take the listener on an unforgettable journey. Tybee may remember Jill’s unforgettable performance with Tony Arata at a Post fundraiser about five years ago. She has recorded three albums and also shared the stage with the likes India Arie, Shawn Colvin, John Prine, Delbert Mclinton, Little Feat, Los Lobos, Peter Rowan and many others.

Grammy nominated-Caroline Aiken was born in Atlanta and spent years of touring and performing from New York to California, but moved back to Atlanta in the early ‘80s opening for the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Muddy Waters, Doc Watson, Bonnie Raitt, Little Feat and more, “… where her bluesy voice, masterful finger picking guitar style and hypnotizing stage presence anchored the city’s acoustic and folk scene, influencing up and coming artists whom she took under her wing, including Indigo Girls and Shawn Mullins,” declares the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
