LAST OF THE RED HOT LOVERS - Performing Arts Center at GSU, Feb 25, 2017 at 8pm

  • Performing Arts Center / Georgia Southern University 847 Plant Drive Statesboro, GA, 30460 United States (map)

Presented by Walnut Street Theatre, the oldest theatre in the country, this freshly-conceived production of Neil Simon’s Broadway classic, Last of the Red Hot Lovers will have you out of your seat with laughter. Set in the “Mad Men” world of the 1960s, this romantic comedy follows bumbling Barney Cashman, a middle-aged, overworked, and overweight husband as he tries to join the free love era before it’s too late. He attempts to arrange three trysts with three very different women – a bawdy bundle of fun who likes smooth whiskey and other women’s husbands, a young actress too kooky for words, and a neurotic housewife who happens to be married to his best friend. And through all the mishaps and laughter, Barney begins to rediscover his humanity and what he thought was missing all along. Last of the Red Hot Lovers enjoyed a lengthy run on Broadway and was also made into a hit film starring Alan Arkin.
