This month, Tybee City Limits is bringing back a very special brother-sister – Eric Culberson and his big sister, Kris Youmans! They played to a sold-out house of family and fans, and we thought we’d bring them back for an encore.
First up is the Eric Culberson Band! Culberson, as everyone around here knows, is the finest blues guitarist in the Southeast and his hard-working band, with Johnathan Hill on bass and Larry Duff on drums, deliver a high-energy performances that is a healthy dose of traditional blues with a modern sonic palette; familiar, yet altogether refreshing as they play clubs and festivals from Savannah to the Keys. Their sound is a mix of traditional blues
Following Eric is his big sister’s highly acclaimed country band, Kris Youmans & Her Mighty Fine Band, winner of the 2016 Georgia Country Awards for Traditional Artist. Youmans’ songwriting style is strongly Roots influenced, and traditional and southern as her hometown of Savannah. Her band, now based in Newnan, including Barefoot Slim on Steel Guitar, David Puett on Guitar, Patrick Thompson Bass and Jerry Lee Percussion, help to achieve that high and lonesome sound which is the signature to their shows. Kris slips in her band’s own original western-infused songs between Hank Sr. & Lefty Frizzell covers.
With any luck, we’ll be able to get these two outstanding band’s together for an extended encore!
