ATC on Tybee presents From New York to Nashville: An Evening with Joshua Carswell and Bex Odorisio

  • Tybee Post Theater 10 Van Horne Ave Tybee Island, Ga 31328 (map)

Our second concert in partnership with American Traditions Vocal Competition brings two outstanding performers to our stage: Joshua Carswell, the 2012 Gold Medalist and Rebecca Odorisio, a three-time finalist in the prestigious national singing competition, performing with Kim Steiner.

A native of North Carolina, Joshua Carswell graduated from Elon University with the university’s prestigious Presser Music Scholar award. He has been a featured soloist in both Carnegie Hall’s Isaac Stern Auditorium and on the Grand Ole’ Opry. Joshua has performed alongside the Greensboro Opera, Cape Cod Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic as well as the North Carolina Symphony. He currently resides in Nashville, where in addition to his active touring schedule with top-ten Billboard charting group the Annie Moses Band, he works as a session musician and vocal coach.

Joshua has recently been busy in theaters across the nation performing his solo show entitled The Monet of Melody. Joshua's breathtaking agility creates a signature sound, singing pop originals, folk melodies, and stunning interpretations of beloved American classics from Johnny Mercer to Hank Williams. He is set to release his new original album "Innerspace" in Spring 2019.

Rebecca "Bex" Odorisio left Philly for New York at the age of eighteen to study at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Since earning her B.F.A., she has worked her away across a wide theatrical spectrum, performing everything from Shakespeare to Sondheim to Strayhorn.

Rebecca, now living in Manhattan, places equal emphasis on musical, comedic, and dramatic pursuits. She is the recipient of the 2015 and 2016 Ben Tucker Jazz Award and the 2016 Johnny Mercer Award from the American Traditions Competition, the 2015 All-Star Champion of the Cabaret Showdown, and a proud member of America's Sweethearts, an all-female trio that performs in the style of the Andrews Sisters.
