The first annual Tybee Island Songwriters Festival features three days of performances by some of the country's top songwriters performing songs from their collection of No. 1 hits.
The songwriters appearing at this final signature evening at the Tybee Post Theater include Hall of Fame songwriters Tony Arata ("The Dance") and Thom Schuyer ("Point of Light"), as well as newcomer Kelsey Lamb, who opened for Kenny Rogers (“Girl at the Bar”).
Tybee Island-native Arata has won coveted Country Music Association Song of the Year awards, and also penned “Here I Am,” “I’m Holding My Own,” and “Dreaming With My Eyes Open” among others for the likes of Garth Brooks, Suzy Bogguss, Patty Loveless, Lee Roy Parnell and Trisha Yearwood.
Schuyler, president of the Country Music Association, has over 200 recorded songs, including five No.1 hits, such as “Love Will Turn You Around,” “A Long Line of Love,” and “My Old Yellow Car.” He’s guided the careers of Kenny Chesney, Martina McBride, Alabama, Clint Black and other country superstars.
Lamb also penned “Only for the Summer” and “Little by Little,” and acted in two Hallmark Channel movies, “Christmas in Homestead” and “Traces.” She released her own self-titled EP this summer.
